Barons Drop Game 2 of Doubleheader to Biscuits 4-2

The Birmingham Barons dropped both games in the doubleheader to the Montgomery Biscuits. Game 2 ended with a score of 4-2 in favor of the Biscuits. In the loss, the Barons collected three hits and used a total of three pitchers.

From the plate, Jason Matthews was the most prolific as he recorded the lone RBI of the night. Matthews collected his RBI on his lone hit of the night in the fifth inning that scored Moises Castillo. The Barons scored their only other run of the night on a Wilfred Veras ground out that scored Terrell Tatum. The Barons with hits on the night were Matthews, Colson Montgomery and Luis Mieses.

From the mound, starting LHP Jake Eder collected his fourth loss of the year in his 5.0 innings pitched. Eder finished the night with five hits, three earned runs, five walks and five strikeouts. In the top of the sixth Eder was relieved by another left-handed pitcher in Garrett Schoenle.

Schoenle pitched 1.0 innings with one hit, zero runs and two walks. Schoenle has been stellar since being placed in the bullpen. RHP Adisyn Coffey came in for the seventh and finished out the seven-inning affair. Coffey finished the game with two hits, one run, zero earned runs and three walks.

Birmingham has now officially lost the series to Montgomery; however, they do have one game left to play on Sunday, September 3rd. The Barons are planning to toss RHP Jonathan Cannon on the bump for Game 6.
