Summary
The Reading Fightin Phils beat the Harrisburg Senators 3-2 Thursday night at FNB Field. Reading took a 3-0 lead with a solo home run in the fourth by Ethan Wilson and a two-run home run in the sixth by Jhailyn Ortiz. The Senators were hitless through the first five innings before Jackson Cluff and JT Arruda both singled starting the sixth inning. Cluff went on to score in the sixth to trim the deficit to 3-1. The Senators scored a run in the seventh to close to within a run. They stranded two runners in both the eighth and ninth innings.
The Big Play
In the top of the sixth, Reading’s Carlos De La Cruz reached on an error and then scored on the two-run home run by Ortiz. Ortiz has knocked in six runs the last two games.
On Capitol Hill
Tanner Rainey started and pitched one inning in his MLB rehab stint. He walked two and struck out two… Andrew Alvarez followed and went 5.2 innings allowing two earned runs, three total, on five hits. He was saddled with his second tough luck loss… Jack Sinclair, Lucas Knowles, and Joel Peguero combined to go the final 2.1 innings without allowing a run.
